Ambitious and smart individuals, like you, are always on the lookout to improve their status in life. For the large majority of such individuals, it often means becoming a permanent resident in another country. The question is : which country, and how ?
There are many countries in the world that appear very attractive. Think of Dubai, Qatar, Singapore and Japan. Amazing countries, really. But it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to become a permanent resident in one of these countries.
Only a handful of desirable countries in the world welcome migrants with open arms. Canada is one of them. In November 2020, Canada announced a target of 401,000 admissions of new permanent residents in 2021 as part of its 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan.
Canada is a magnet for ambitious and smart young people, for many reasons. For instance, Canada offers you a very high quality of life, making it an extremely attractive destination to have a good life for yourself and your family.
Ways to legally gain permanent residency in Canada
There are multiple ways to legally enter Canada with the purpose of gaining permanent residency in Canada. These include skilled worker, refugee, family-sponsored, business start-up, etc.
The best way : Study Abroad !
But here’s something that most people don’t know. The most prevalent way to gain permanent residency in Canada is : Study Abroad. Yes ! Come to Canada to study, and you will not only get top-quality education. Importantly, you will be giving yourself the best chance to become a Canadian Permanent Resident !
Here is what the Honourable Marco Mendicino, Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship IRCC), said on 14 April 2021 :
“The pandemic has shone a bright light on the incredible contributions of newcomers. These new policies will help those with a temporary status to plan their future in Canada, play a key role in our economic recovery and help us build back better. Our message to them is simple : your status may be temporary, but your contributions are lasting—and we want you to stay.”
On that same day, the Minister announced an innovative pathway to permanent residence for over 90,000 essential workers and international graduates who are actively contributing to Canada’s economy.
So, effective May 6, 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) began accepting applications under the following 3 streams :
- 20,000 applications for temporary workers in health care
- 30,000 applications for temporary workers in other selected essential occupations
- 40,000 applications for international students who graduated from a Canadian institution
Take a good look : which stream has almost 45% of new permanent residency in Canada permits ? That’s right : it’s the international students who came to Canada via Study Abroad !
